FAQs regarding Psychology courses for students from other disciplines

How can I transfer from another study programme to Psychology?

Theoretically, it is possible to transfer to Psychology from another study programme; you need to have 30 ECTS credits* that are recognised in the Psychology programme per semester.

You cannot transfer to higher semesters outside the regular semester cyle; you can transfer to the 2nd semester in the summer semester only, and to the 3rd semester in the winter semester only.

Application deadlines to transfer from another study programme:

  • 15 January for the summer semester
  • 15 July for the winter semester

Deadlines to submit missing documents:

  • 15 March for the summer semester
  • 15 September for the winter semester

We keep a separate ranking list for students wanting to transfer from another study programme (separate from students wanting to transfer from another city who apply at the University of Konstanz for the first time). However, this separate ranking list only contains a few places.

* a maximum of 9 ECTS from non-psychological courses

Can I register for one lecture exam from a module that consists of several lectures?

Typically, students from other disciplines may attend lectures at the Department of Psychology. The lectures can be chosen independently of each other in any number. Credits are acquired through performance in the respective examinations (or sometimes through proof of attendance). Information on the registration period for the examination can be found in the ZEuS course catalogue for the respective course. The lecture examinations are offered every semester; we do not offer any follow-up examinations within a semester. One exception is the lecture "Überblick über die psychologische Anwendungsfächer".

All lectures, with the exception of the "Überblick über die psychologische Anwendungsfächer", conclude with an examination. Ungraded participation is not possible in these lectures. Attendance is compulsory in the lecture "Überblick über die psychologische Anwendungsfächer". Regular attendance must be documented by signature. No credits will be awarded for more than 2 absences. Participation in the exercises (Übung) on Statistics 1 & 2 and Methods 1 & 2 is voluntary and is not rewarded by additional credits.

Current information can be found in the brochure, which is updated here every semester:  "Psychology courses for students from other disciplines".

Can I take seminars in Psychology?

Typically, students from other disciplines cannot enroll for seminars in Psychology, as the places in the seminars are limited.

How do I register for the exams?

You can register for an exam via ZEuS within following periods:
01 January - 30 January for the winter semester and
01 June - 30 June for the summer semester.

Frequently asked questions about exam registration and TAN problems

Perhaps the following answers to the most frequently asked questions will help you.
If not, please contact the ZEuS Support Team at zeus-support@uni-konstanz.de.

I can't find the exam in my study planner / I can't open the structure / I can't see all the modules in my degree programme:
Please select "All" at the top of the study planner under "Subject: semester".

Do you want to register for an optional course?
1. In the study planner, open account 8850 Additional voluntary courses via "+".
2. click on "Display structure" behind the offer of the Department of Psychology.
3. Search for the exam (e.g. PSY-10045) using the search field.
4. The registration button should be visible.

I cannot find the registration button:
Is it a course (book symbol) or an exam (yellow star)?
Many online events do not require prior registration via ZEuS in order to participate. Accordingly, no registration button is available for these events.

You can view existing registrations for courses and examinations in ZEuS under "My studies -> Registrations".

I cannot generate a TAN list / My generated TANs do not work / The generated TANs are missing in the document:
After downloading the PDF-file with the generated TANs for the first time, you have 20 minutes to generate your TAN list. After this time, the generatied TANs become invalid. As soon as the generated TANs become invalid, they will no longer appear in the PDF-file.
Please send ZEuS Support an e-mail: zeus-support@uni-konstanz.de.
Alternative: Go to the TAN terminal in the Student Service Centre (SSZ) on B4 to have a new TAN list generated (the SSZ is currently closed due to the effects of the Corona virus!).

My TANs do not work / My TAN list is blocked:
Please note that a specific TAN is requested from the list during exam registration. Therefore, You cannot randomly select a TAN-number from the list. If, for example, TAN number 34 is requested, you must also enter the TAN with the consecutive number 34.
After three incorrect attempts, the TAN list will be blocked and you will have to get a new one.
Please send ZEuS Support an e-mail: zeus-support@uni-konstanz.de.
Alternatively, go to the TAN terminal in the Student Service Centre (SSZ) on B4 to have a new TAN list generated (the SSZ is currently closed due to the effects of the Corona virus!).
