Application and Requirements

Welcome to the Department of Psychology! We are delighted that you have decided to study in Konstanz! Scroll down for important information about your study exchange at the University of Konstanz.

Erasmus+

Ask the International Office at your home institution and the Departmental Erasmus Coordinator at your home institution what possibilities there are to come to Konstanz and note the respective application deadline of your home institution.

International students that have been nominated for student exchange to Konstanz by their home institutions may apply  for one or two semesters at the University of Konstanz.

Important: Please first observe the application deadlines of your home university and then the application deadlines of the University of Konstanz!

Freemover

If your home university is not one of our current partner universities (neither Erasmus+ nor one of our direct partnerships), you have the option to study with us as a Freemover .

Incoming Student Guide

Information about studying at the Department of Psychology (study programmes on offer, course formats in the departments, information on ECTS-points etc.) may be found in the Incoming Student Guide. In this brochure you will also find further information on the University of Konstanz (the organisation of the academic year etc.), the application procedure and orientation programmes offered by the International Office.

Important Information

Nomination

Applications from exchange students will be processed by our International Office. Detailed information about the application procedure, documents, deadlines etc. may be found on the website of our International Office.

To apply for a stay at the University of Konstanz as an exchange student you must have been nominated by your home university. Nominations should be made online via the platform Mobility Online. Our partner universities receive information about the nominations procedure from our International Office at the beginning of each year. 

Once you have been nominated you will receive a welcome email from our International Office with  information on how to proceed with your application.

Please note: If you apply for the summer semester, you will receive the welcome message in  autumn!

Application

Deadlines for exchange students (Erasmus+ and other programmes):

  • 15th of May for the winter semester (October - February)
  • 15th of November for the summer semester (April - July)

Language Requirements

Exchange students have to hand in proof of adequate language skills in either German or English as part of their application. As of the academic year 2018/19 the minimum level B2 (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) will be required.

In the section on language requirements and tests on the website of our International Office you will find a list of accepted language tests and certificates.

Language Requirements and Certificates

Exchange students must demonstrate a proficiency in English OR in German, minimum level B2 according to the European reference framework.

Accepted language certificates are:

- Official confirmation provided by the language instructor at your home university on official university letterhead with original signature and stamp/seal
- Official certificate German B2 (Goethe-Institut)
- Preliminary English Test (PET, Cambridge)
- TELC-Certificate: minimum level B2
- IELTS: minimum score of 4.5
- TOEFL (IBT): minimum score of 57
- TOEFL (ITP): minimum score of 460
- TOEIC: minimum score of 275 in listening and reading
